I'm not hiring. I do need design help.

Honest about both.

Dungeon Diary is a team of one. The plan is to stay that way through 2026, then reassess once revenue covers a salary. I'm not taking applications and I won't be for a while.

What I actually need right now

A designer who plays D&D. Specifically someone who can pressure-test the visual direction, gut-check the empty states, and tell me when something reads as AI-generated slop. Paid contract work for specific pieces, not full-time.

Things that would help:

  • Reviewing the marketing site and entity templates with an honest eye
  • Sketching empty-state and first-run flows for new GMs
  • Iconography for the entity types — the current set is generic
  • Tightening the live-session HUD for at-the-table use
  • A real logo. The current “D” is a placeholder.

If that sounds like you

Send a short note to matt@dungeondiary.app. No portfolio required — show me one piece of work you're proud of and tell me what you're currently DMing.

If you want to contribute another way

Founders shape the roadmap. Bug reports and feature requests in the Discord get acted on within a week. If you write a thoughtful blog post about Dungeon Diary, I'll link it from the build log.

Other roles I might hire eventually

  1. A second full-stack engineer comfortable with AI infra and realtime.
  2. A part-time community manager who's an active DM.

Probably late 2026. Probably remote. No rush.
